The Branch of the
Future
ANP Presales Findings:
ANP completed a tariff review of the existing
branch Frame Relay network and determined that a new clear T1
network would be less expensive, would
significantly
increase branch bandwidth and could be provisioned using a
diverse path Sonet Ring at the bank datacenter to markedly
improve availability.
Once the network transport
had been re-engineered, ANP focused on improving
network resiliency at the remote branch locations. ANP
designed into the solution automatic ISDN back up circuits which
would dial-in to the largest branch location providing both
branch redundancy and datacenter redundancy.
ANP proposed the use of
routers that could easily upgrade to carry voice in the future,
so the bank in the future could remove the key systems from
their branch offices and give every branch employee extensions
off of the corporate PBX. ANP also proposed our Net eWare
for WAN's to out-task the remote monitoring and management of
the bank's router and WAN infrastructure.
The bank accepted ANP's proposal and and a
written Statement-of-Work was completed to document all
project deliverables during the implementation engagement.
ANP Solution:
The bank now enjoys the performance and
reliability of their new T1 network. Because additional
bandwidth was made available, the Loan application and teller
terminals are now running smoothly. The two new
applications; corporate email and the Internet are also being
delivered successfully.
The ISDN dial back-up is tested by the ANP
Network Operations Center on a scheduled basis. The bank has not
had a branch off-line since the new dial back-up network was
installed.
The bank's IT employees can now focus 100% of
their daily efforts of strategic bank projects because the
day-to-day operation and support of the network has been
successfully out-tasked to ANP. The bank is considering
deploying customer Kiosks to improve branch customer
touch. The bank is also evaluating deploying IP
Telephony to their remote branches.
